Pre-treatment examples

Some patients need additional treatment before the implant can be inserted into the jaw.

1.

Any inflammatory conditions in relation to the teeth, gums or jawbone must be removed

For example, it may be neccesary to:

Perform scaling on a regular basis.

Give instructions to improve oral hygiene.

Conduct a more extensive periodontal treatment.

2.

If the jawbone's height and width are insufficient to support an implant, a reconstruction of the bone of the toothless area is needed.

The bone reconstruction can be made along with the implant placement or as a separate procedure. See example of bone augmentation.

3.

If the distance between the existing teeth is insufficient, the tooth position irregular or dental occlusion abnormal, a preliminary tooth alignment may be neccesary to make room for the implants and to harmonize the dental arches. See example of orthodontic treatment.
