Implant placement

The placement of an implant in the jaw is done by a small surgical procedure in the toothless area. Surgery is done under local anaesthesia. The procedure lasts approx. 30 min and is completely painless. When the appointment is made for an implant you will receive guidelines by the dental surgeon. When you follow these guidelines, the surgical implant placement will take place without problems.

In the toothless area an opening is made through the gums to the jawbone.

Specially calibrated watercooled burrs are used to create the exact width and depth in the jawbone so that the opening will be a precise fit to the size of the chosen implant.

The implant is inserted into the newly shaped opening of the bone, and is then delicately screwed in place and fastened. The top of the implant is closed with a cover-screw. The wound is closed with sutures.

In some situations the implant can tolerate a limited loading right away. Some times it is possible to make a temporary tooth replacement directly on the implant, as soon as the surgery is over.

After the implant placement you will recieve a thorough guidance regarding medication, oral hygiene and eating, as well as the general precautions after surgery.
